About Ryoya Takashima

1983

Born in Japan.

1992

I quit playing the piano I had learned. I wish I hadn't quit.

1995

I joined the kendo club in junior high school. I've even obtained the rank of nidan. It's strange that I feel like doing it sometimes.

I got into snowboarding and played video games a lot. I don't regret it, but now I wonder why I didn't spend more time studying music, money, and exercising my body during that period.

1999

I bought a Honda Jazz moped. At 16, I immediately used the money I saved from my part-time job to obtain a medium-sized motorcycle license and bought a XJR400 on Yahoo Auction.

2000

My first overseas trip, to the west coast of America and Mexico. I fell in love with the atmosphere. I vowed in my heart, "I will work overseas"

2001

I judged that college would be a waste of time for me and because I liked cars and motorcycles, I went to a technical school for automobiles. I bought a Mazda Roadster NB8C and after buying a Dragstar 400, I obtained a large-sized motorcycle license and also purchased a YZF-R1. It was all so much fun.

I didn't have any intention of finding a job, but I went to a job fair of a certain dealer anyway. I was surprised to be given estimated monthly and annual salaries in my 30s and 40s. I swore once again in my heart that I would never work at a normal company because of the low amount of money.

2002

I was involved in a right-angle accident at an intersection and my YZF-R1 was severely damaged and became a scrap. I flew about 10 meters and crash-landed on the edge of the national road. Miraculously, I was almost unscathed. I went to school and work as usual the next day. I caused a lot of trouble and worries to many people. I am truly sorry.
People who ride motorcycles that can easily reach high speeds should be careful. If I were to buy another motorcycle now, I wouldn't want anything other than a Harley where I wouldn't have the urge to go fast. But I think the time of enjoying riding on fuel-inefficient vehicles has already passed.

2003

I found out about the working holiday program from a senior colleague at my part-time job. My image of studying abroad changed. It's not just for people who can speak English and are smart. There's also study abroad for studying English. I immediately decide to go to Australia after graduation.

2004

A few days after graduating from auto school, I set off for Australia.
I attend a language school in Bondi, Sydney for about 2 months. I start cooking for self-sufficiency. In Japan, I had already decided that I wouldn't work at a Japanese restaurant, so I try washing cars at a custom shop in a wealthy residential area. I enjoyed washing luxury cars, but I quickly got bored, so I took my resume and went straight to a cafe at Bondi Beach. I was hired. I work as the chef's assistant from 5am to lunchtime. I learned cooking here. I rent a 2LDK apartment for about AUD 1500 per month in Bondi. I recruit a sharemate and live almost for free. It was a great place.

2005

I decided to return to Japan to obtain permanent residency, and I returned to Japan from Australia.
I met an interesting CEO of a venture company. I became an employee. The company was exporting and selling used cars from Japan to New Zealand. I was asked, "Are you going to New Zealand tomorrow?" and I replied, "Yes." The next day, I went to Christchurch for a year. I sold used cars to local dealers in Japan. I had a great time living in New Zealand.

2006

I fell in love with cooking and decided I wanted to run a cafe in Australia. However, after considering the fact that the automotive industry was becoming less appealing to me due to the increasing shift to electric vehicles and declining consumer interest in cars and motorcycles, I decided that the automotive industry was not for me. I enrolled in a TAFE (Technical and Further Education) school in Australia to obtain my permanent residency, and after leaving my job, I returned to Japan.

After returning to Japan, I developed urticaria.

2007

For a year and a half, I was dedicated to treating my illness, which made it impossible for me to go out much and I could only stay at home. The cause of my illness was stress. With the help of Bach flower remedies and by focusing on my mental health, I was fully recovered within a month. During my illness, I had plenty of free time and spent it reading self-development books from the library, which led me to become a vegan on May 13, 2007.

I bought my first digital SLR camera, a Nikon D40 with 6.24 million pixels. Through a friend's introduction, I started working at a macrobiotic cafe in Shioyama City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The cafe's owner was hospitalized and I had to run the cafe almost by myself for about a month. I started a blog called "Let's spread the vegetarian wheel ♪" which was quite popular, but I have since deleted everything. The past doesn't matter; what's important is now.

I attended a Kushi macrobiotic school for nine months.

2009

I went to Living Light Culinary Art Institute, a raw food school located in America.

I wanted to meet more new and interesting people, so I moved to Kanagawa Prefecture.

I started a cooking class. At that time, I was only 25. I was surprised that so many people trusted me. But I believed I had more knowledge and experience than anyone else at that time.

Despite the abundance of information in the world and the ease of access, many people are still bad at gathering information. They can't tell what information is correct and what is incorrect. Let's trust ourselves more. Let's rely on our intuition. Everything becomes our own responsibility, but it is actually easier that way.

2010

The era of blogging is over, and it's now the era of video! That's why I started on YouTube, and the birth of PEACEFUL CUISINE.

Why don't I use the word "vegan" in my vegan recipe video channel? That's because I don't like the word myself. There are several reasons why. Anyway, I try to avoid using that word as much as possible. Whether something is vegan or not, it's honestly one of the least important things in the world.

2011

Started pottery. For several years to come, I will be making pottery almost every day. I am confident that I can live as a potter anytime. My favorite is brushwork and carbon firing. I also bought raw soil and made my own clay. Then I started making glaze by myself. Pottery is tough. When purchasing the work of a potter, I don't want consumers who don't understand the incredible effort, labor, and time required to make a piece that I want.

Also started making soba. In the beginning, I made a lot of uneven soba. Now I only use freshly ground flour. I almost never make soba sauce. I believe that the best way to eat delicious soba is with salt.

Bought a Nikon D7000. Started filming cooking videos with a single-lens reflex camera.

2013

I bought a road bike and started triathlon. I also started going to the gym.

2014

Start DIY. Participate in the Honolulu Triathlon. Get a MAZZER coffee grinder and a La Pavoni espresso machine.

Begin a cooking series called Veggie Dishes in collaboration with Fuji TV. It was one of the series within the YouTube channel "Videlicious" that was produced by Fuji TV at the time. Every week, I made a cooking video separate from my channel. This was when I think I was making the most cooking videos. I remember that when I was approached, my channel still had a few thousand subscribers.

2015

I get the Panasonic GH4 at the same time as its release. I start filming cooking videos in 4K. I always keep in mind "to continue doing things at a quality that no one else can imitate or replicate." If what I'm trying to do next is just a second-rate imitation of someone else, then I have already lost at that point.

2016

Start shooting starry sky timelapses. At that time, I really wanted to make an 8K Milky Way timelapse, which no one had made yet. Several hundred thousand yen was spent on camera equipment.

Start learning cello. Cook by myself and think up my own recipes. Make my kitchen by DIY and make my dishes by ceramics. I do all the filming and editing by myself, but the only thing I didn't make in my cooking videos was music. So I wanted to make music by myself too. But cello is difficult.

Go to Egypt. I have always loved pyramids since I was a child. Pay $1600 to the Egyptian government and rent the Sphinx for 2 hours. Meditate for a while between the front legs. Suddenly become ill shortly after meeting the mummy of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings. It takes one week to recover.

2017

I went to Iceland to see the aurora. I was deeply fascinated by it. I soon went to the Lofoten Islands in Norway again to see the aurora. There was a great aurora explosion. Somehow, the chakra was activated. During the aurora photography, a UFO appeared. For some reason, it didn't show up in the photo. I became less interested as the UFO continued to appear for more than 30 minutes. It felt like, "Oh, it's still there?"

I published the cookbook "PEACEFUL CUISINE". There are not many culinary researchers who can create recipes, cook, and handle photography and development like I can. Making one book was challenging, but it was a very enjoyable experience.

2018

I moved to Kyoto. I had all of my silver fillings removed. In the near future, teeth can be completely regenerated through medical means, but it's really important to take care of them.

I went to Oaxaca, Mexico and entered a darkroom for 9 consecutive days for a specific purpose. I stayed at the Hotel Arigalan. If you're interested, you can look it up and go there yourself. Don't always rely on asking others. The owner, Rose, probably still remembers me if I mention my name, Ryoya. The Mexican cuisine made by Rose was the best. After I left the darkroom, my head felt incredibly clear. But it wasn't a success. I may go there again.

2019

I get Roland's Kiyola electronic piano. Suddenly restarting the piano. Feels much easier compared to the cello, but it's not easy.

Make an official video for Patagonia. I've already had the pleasure of working with many big companies. It's really enjoyable to work with companies that have the same philosophy and goals as me.

I get FUJIFILM's GFX100. Finally medium format.

2020

I traveled to Finland, Estonia, and Iceland from February to March just before the coronavirus pandemic. I went there for the purpose of seeing the aurora, but this time I didn't see it very well and I have taken some videos but haven't edited them yet.

I went to Yakushima for trekking to take a picture of the Milky Way. Although it was during the rainy season, I spent the best three days around the new moon, without rain for four days, on the peaks of Nagatadake and Miyunokuradake. Miraculously, the Neo-Wise comet also appeared, it was just amazing.

During the coronavirus lockdown, when the world was in a mood of self-restraint, I decided to spend New Year's Eve and New Year in Hawaii, because I thought I could go.

2021

I start the online salon called Crazy Nuts Club.
How can human beings have confidence in themselves and do what they want to do?
The question and answer are simple, but few people can do it. If this could be done, all of humanity could become happier without requiring much time.

2022

I had a relapse of urticaria. I never expected it to happen at my age, but looking back now, I think I was too carefree about my mental state.

For humans to be healthy, it is important to have good food, living environment, and physical condition, but I believe that mental health is the most important of all.

Having a mindset and thinking that minimizes stress is important, but conversely, if you have a solid mindset and way of thinking, you won't accumulate any stress at all.

If you don't accumulate stress, you won't get sick much.

On June 10th, I established EATART Co., Ltd. and became its CEO.
